Friends: Being a good listener!
I can be a better listener, and will use the techniques learned in HEART class to be a better listener.
Today in HEART class we talked about being a good listener. We know that in order to be a good listener one needs to let the other person talk while making eye contact as much as possible. If possible, comment on what the speaker just said to let them know that you heard them and care about what they are saying. Click the picture below for a quick 3 minute video on listening.

This week we discussed our last week of virtual learning. We discussed what students liked and what they were having trouble with. Communicating the problems they are having with their teachers is important. Don't assume they know. In addition, all students understand the grading expectations of HEART class (1, 2 or 3). Attending HEART class virtually is important and is expected. Also, if a student has trouble logging or has another issue as to why they didn't attend class, they should email me. In my class I will give the student credit if he/she reaches out to me.
We also discussed the many feelings all people have throughout their lifetime. We can feel one way and seconds later feel another way. It's very normal. I read the book below to the students.

This week we are learning about feeling. There are many kinds of feelings and everyone has them. They can also change many times throughout the day. Knowing how people feel will help you understand why they act the way they do. You should also consider peoples' feelings when interacting with them.
Draw 4 feeling faces on your own paper and share next week. See below for an example.
